Rusalka is still enjoying light winds and low seas, but a big low pressure weather system is on its way. MetBob has advised a route to avoid the worst by sailing in a big arc to north of Lord Howe Island.

This screenshot of the forecast (showing Monday's wind) and route modelling from PredictWind shows what they’re trying to avoid. They should miss the worst of it, but still will likely have winds in the 20’s, gusting 30’s, and very uncomfortable waves (4-4.5m, short period between waves) for a time on Sunday to Monday. Alex and the crew are well prepared for it, but it will be a tiring few days.
In the meanwhile, the crew has been keeping busy. Alex and Roisin set up the Hydrovane wind steering system and Boris has been practicing celestial navigation, honing his use of a sextant.
